Construction of the Québec Lithium project began in August 2011. Work at the lithium carbonate plant has moved inside the building for the installation of the ball mills and flotation circuits. Major equipment long lead items such as crushers, ball mills, electrical sub-station, kiln and hydrometallurgical components have begun arriving on-site.

Several research groups [ 1] [ 2] [ 18] [ 12] - [ 25] analysed the mixing of lithium battery materials using ball mill mixers, and found that the solution viscosity would drop gradually and approached a stable, limiting value after a long period of mixing.

Feed for the roast was ground and mixed in a ball mill (16-in diam by 24-in length). The minus 100-mesh mixture was pelletized with water in a 20-in-diam drum pelletizer (fig. 12). The pellets were roasted in a direct-fired rotary roaster (fig. 15) that was fired with natural gas and had a working capacity of 0.5 ft³.
