Recovery of cobalt, nickel, and copper from slags, using ...
Some of the alloy was upgraded by blowing with oxygen in a top-blown rotary converter (TBRC), preferentially oxidizing the iron, and thereby concentrating the cobalt and copper in the alloy. The iron content in the alloy was lowered from 76 to 25%, with the effect that the alloy was concentrated up to 30% cobalt and 40% copper.
